A Timeline for Home Buying

Afraid of the home buying process? You're not alone! This timeline is here to ease your fears and guide you every step of the way.

To Prep:

1. Utilize an agent.

Did you know using a REALTOR® is free when you're buying a home?! Use a professional and don't be afraid to ask questions. Going alone can result in more harm than good and nothing is worse than dragging out an already time-consuming process.

2. Get your financials in check.

The most important step to accomplish BEFORE you start home shopping, is meeting a lender and getting a pre-approval. This step is critical in determining your budget and making sure your offer is accepted once you find your dream home.

3. Look at neighborhoods.

Do you want to live in an urban setting or are the suburbs more your speed? How relevant is a good school district for your family? These questions are vital to ask when finding an area that matches your lifestyle.

To Buy:

1. House hunting.

Once you find a home that you're interested in, your REALTOR® will provide you with information to ensure your offer is accepted and you don't over-offer. Your REALTOR® will also negotiate on your behalf, to ensure your best interests are satisfied.

2. Signing the agreement.

Once initial negotiation is complete, the next step is signing the purchase agreement. From there, home inspections, repairs, and other necessary contingencies will be discussed. Your REALTOR® will be able to guide you through all those ins and outs.
